I have really weak nails and if I don't have some sort of polish on them they will break off even more, so I usually will wear clear if I don't have time to put something better on or if I want it to match anything.

They look shiny and neat while still being natural. Besides, if you're doing them on your own, it's less messy and quicker than color polish.

whats the point in waxing a car or waxing a floor same idea they said it shiney....it also makes nails tougher..
