What is it called when the side of your finger near the nail is inflamed or it hurts?

I get this random times maybe 3 times a year.What is it called when the side of your finger near the nail is inflamed or it hurts?
it's called a hang nail..Keep it clean so it doesn't get infected or put some neosporin itWhat is it called when the side of your finger near the nail is inflamed or it hurts?
i get it as well ...... all it is is when a bit of dirt gets into your nail or the skin and it gets slightly infected.

All you need to do is dab a bit of TCP on the side of your finger and it should start clearing up in a couple of days.

Sorted :)
Don't mess around with your cuticles - don't cut them, bite them or be too agressive with your manicures. Bacteria, fungus, viruses are opportunistic and love the nail bed - don't let it happen, its yuck if it gets bad. ';Paronychia';, ';Whitlow';
It's called a hangnail and it hurts like hell to be so small
A Hang nail... very similar to an ingrown toe nail. They hurt. It's really a sharp part of your nail growing into your skin where it does not belong. Cutting your nail too short can be a major cause of this.
in french '; ongle incarner'; lol
maybe you have a hangnail
could be a torn cuticle, even a paper cut, Watch it. If peroxide and neosporin don't clear it up fast, it could be a bad staph infection. It's most likely staph anyway, but not a dangerous one.
when its on your toe they call it an ingrown nail.. I would think it would be the same for fingernails.
you have an ingrown fingernail see a doctor to get it removed
i always call them upstarts!
