Which one hurts more, chopping off an entire finger or clipping off a whole nail of a finger?

I usually ask random question when i am really bored, but i wanted to know which one hurts more.

Clipping the whole nail off would be painful, however, losing an entire finger would be much more painful and would obviously result in more damage, much of which would be irreversible.Which one hurts more, chopping off an entire finger or clipping off a whole nail of a finger?
Well I have to say chopping off a whole finger.
