Because their friends are doing it.
Because they're doing coke.
Because they are trying to play guitar (should really grow the thumb out then too)
Because they need a long hook to pick their noses.
It used to be a COKE thing to grow the pinkie nail really long but I don't know if that's still the case. It's just kind of dumb if you ask me.
I remember one guy who did in highschool, he had know logical reason. He was a complete moron.
I grow the fingernails out on the first four fingers of my right hand to play guitar....
